Phraya Nakhon Cave can be reached from Laem Sala Beach by climbing up and down over a steep, rocky hill. According to the official measurement, the trail is about 430m long on an elevation of 130m.
But it may feel like over 1km long, especially for those who aren’t physically fit.
Laem Sala Beach is accessible by a boat ride or by foot over an uphill Khao Thian trail from Ban Pu fishing village, about 60km south of Hua Hin. The boat ride takes about 10-15 minutes, and costs about 400 Baht per boat per one-way trip – but there’re wet landings. By foot, it’s about 15-20 minutes, depending on one’s physical strengths. The Khao Thian hill, however, is not as challenging as the main uphill trail to the cave.
Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is Thailand’s first national marine park, established in 1966 (the country’s first ever national park is Khao Yai National Park).
